Available Room Types

Deluxe Room

For a little more space, our Double Deluxe rooms are located in the monastery building. All feature king-size beds, many of which are half canopied and adorned with hand-embroidered covers. Twin beds are available in some of the rooms. The luxurious bathrooms feature Carrara marble double vanities, separate toilet, walk-in shower, bathtub and custom-made armoire. Comfortable seating invites reading or relaxing with a coffee. Several rooms can be connected and several more can accommodate an extra bed or sofa bed.

Premium Room

Originally the living quarters for resident monks, these peaceful retreats retain their timeless charm. The interiors echo scenes from renaissance artwork, from the color palette to the antique furnishings and tapestries. Each Premium Room may radiate historic elegance, but they also feature every modern luxury, including well-appointed marble en-suites, a spacious walk-in wardrobe and cozy seating area. Anticipate a serene space to unwind with views across the gardens and city beyond.

Chapel Room

Aptly named, this beautiful room is the former chapel where resident monks would gather to meditate and pray. The tranquility of the original chapel is honored in the gentle green and cream tones, natural materials and serene views across the Italian gardens. The Calacatta marble bathroom adds a dash of modern luxury and a spacious outdoor terrace provides the perfect spot for soaking up the views.

Junior Suite

These spacious Junior Suites are nestled within the villa’s historic gardens, designed by Pietro Porcinai. Each suite boasts sweeping views across the gardens and Florence, along with a private terrace furnished in Porcinai-inspired seating and a table made with Montelupo ceramics. Inside, step into elegant rooms bathed in green and beige hues to reflect the natural beauty outside. The spacious bathrooms are finished in Calacatta marble and radiate indulgence.

Premium Junior Suite With Terrace

Located above the Italian Gardens, these magnificent junior suites offer the ultimate space, including a large terrace furnished with chairs and a table. They enjoy wonderful views of the gardens or full or partial views of Florence. Bathrooms offer a walk-in shower, separate bathtub and double marble vanities. A king-size or twin beds are available. Three suites are connecting, and all have space for an extra bed or a sofa bed.

Garden Junior Suite

Beautifully re-imagined, these light-filled, inviting spaces celebrate their connection to the surrounding gardens and nature. Nestled below the hotel's Italian gardens and surrounded by blooms and foliage, each junior suite boasts sunbeds and outdoor furnishings for making the most of the outdoors. The plush interiors boast custom tapestries, soft furnishings and an expansive walk-in wardrobe. Included is a striking en-suite, completed in Calacatta marble—a favorite of Michelangelo's.

Greenhouse Junior Suite

These suites are located in the original gardens belonging to the resident monks. In celebration of the surroundings, anticipate soothing green hues and natural materials. The iconic Medici family have a presence too in the opulent Montelupo majolica ceramics, intricate tapestries and renaissance terracotta parquet flooring. Each junior suite boasts a terrace for outdoor relaxation and an indulgent Calacatta marble bathroom.

Monastery Suite

The "pietra serena" stonework and terracotta floors nod to the Monastery Suite's former role as the Prior's Quarters. Blending 800 years of history, the interiors feature 19th-century antiques and neoclassical tapestries paired with luxurious touches like the spacious walk-in closet and opulent Cipollino marble bathroom—the overall feel is timeless and irresistibly indulgent. Enjoy beautiful views of the Italian gardens and a serene private space to unwind.

Garden Suite

Tucked away in an intimate corner of the Italian gardens, these spacious suites boast a private terrace with fantastic views over Florence. Infused with aromatic fragrances from the surrounding gardens and woods, they feature a separate sitting room with space for a child's bed on request.

Grand Tour Suite

Throughout history, the Grand Tour was a rite of passage for aristocratic international travelers and a unique cultural education—nowhere more so than Florence. This magnificent suite celebrates the Grand Tour tradition and boasts a fascinating guest list, including Napoléon Bonaparte. The space spans the length of the monastery’s Michelangelo-inspired façade. Anticipate sweeping views across the city, a private corridor and studio space inspired by Napoléon’s office. Historic touches like the antique tapestries and canopy bed add to the sense of drama.

Botanica Suite

Echoing its gorgeous garden setting, this stunning suite is filled with botanical touches. Large windows frame the garden views and fill the suite with light, opening out to your own private outdoor space with seating for relaxation. Inside, the interiors are light and luxurious with plush furnishings, authentic antique pieces and a private library. The en-suite is perfectly appointed and finished in beautiful Calacatta marble.

Limonaia Suite

Our most indulgent accommodation at Villa San Michele, the Limonaia Suite is set within the former orangery, nestled in the Italian Gardens. This villa-style retreat spreads across two levels and offers stunning views across Florence and the Tuscan hills. Evocative of a collector’s house, the interior blends historical Fiesolan villa details with cozy nooks featuring art and curiosities. Frescoes and terracotta floors radiate a classically Tuscan aesthetic, while the panoramic views from the bedroom and heated stone pool enhance the sense of opulence. Just steps away, you’ll find the woodland where Leonardo da Vinci first experimented with his legendary flying machine.
