Now, the hotel opens onto a fully renewed, pedestrian-friendly plaza, designed for easier movement, improved accessibility and a more relaxed urban rhythm, without losing its central pulse.

Right outside our doors, Plaza del Carmen steps confidently into a new era. The renovation thoughtfully reconnects the square with its surroundings, restoring key elements of the neighborhood’s memory, including the relocation of the Firefighters Monument closer to Gran Vía, while introducing greener areas and a clearer, more open layout.

For our guests, the experience is effortless. Step out of the lobby and stroll comfortably toward Puerta del Sol, Montera or Gran Vía, pause between shopping, shows or late dinners, or arrive and depart with greater ease thanks to the upgraded underground car park. Plaza del Carmen is now exactly what it was meant to be: an open, welcoming extension of the city, and a natural front door to Thompson Madrid.

Jack´s Club: A speakeasy shaped by memory

Welcome to Jack’s Club, the hidden heart of Thompson Madrid after dark. A refined speakeasy inspired by personal memory, the club was conceived by co-owner Murray Lemon as a tribute to his grandfather’s library, a place where nights unfolded slowly, drinks were poured with intention and time seemed to stretch well past midnight.

That spirit lives on here. Soft lighting, live piano melodies and expertly crafted cocktails set the tone for an atmosphere that feels intimate, elegant and timeless. Jack’s Club is designed for conversation, connection and unhurried nights, where presence matters more than performance.

Discretion is part of the experience. To preserve the club’s private character, guests are kindly asked to refrain from taking photos or videos, allowing the focus to remain on the moment and the people sharing it. Privacy is not a rule here, it is a shared value.

For more than two centuries, this site was home to the San Luis Obispo church, and subtle architectural details remain as quiet reminders of its history, woven naturally into the club’s design. Perched on the rooftop of the hotel, Makáá is our brand new restaurant that brings fire and celebrates flavours.
